Beth Knits Lola S Jumper

Hiya Hiya Knitters! This week I’ve been making little jumpers for Lola and Chester (2 of our 4 office dogs). I found a great free pattern through Ravelry, The Juno Jumper. I’ve made one with super chunky yarn (Countess Ablaze super chunky in The Black Parade and Georgia, get me a crunchie) for Chester, but it was a bit too big, he’s still growing into it. But I loved the pattern and Lola’s mum requested a red one for her. So here’s how I made Lola’s Jumper.

So using HiyaHiya Sharp 3.75mm tips on a HiyaHiya 18/20″ cable I cast on 36 stitches. I reduced the cast on to match Lolas measurements.

It starts with a single rib stitch for 10 rows to form the neck. Then came place marking (PM), I chose to use the HiyaHiya Yarn Ball Stitch markers to do this. These are placed to mark where you are increasing your rounds, and eventually where you are creating leg holes. I like the pattern created from the increase.

For the legs, I used a simple bind off (BO) but I wish I had used a stretchier bind off, just so as Lola grows it’s less restrictive (don’t worry it’s nice and roomy on her for now)

The pattern says to knit 10 rows for the body, but as Lola is a little sausage dog she needs a bit longer in the body and I did 20 rows for this before decreasing and rib stitching the final 10 rows.

I cut the yarn using my trusty HiyaHiya Puppy snips and weaving in my ends using my HiyaHiya Darning needle.  After about 6 hours knitting I had a lovely little jumper for Lola to parade around the office in.
